NWT Q-Chem Program
The NWT Q-Chem Program was initiated in 1984 as an attempt to assist power utilities in
evaluating their in-house laboratory performance. The philosophy of the
program is to provide customers with standards as close to "real world" as
possible. To accomplish this task, NWT has produced standards ranging from low ppb
level solutions to highly concentrated solutions. In order to satisfy the need by
power plants for metallic oxides on filters, NWT developed techniques to prepare filter
standards. The Q-Chem program has grown to include over 50 sites around the world,
covering both BWRs and PWRs. NWT has developed custom programs to address specific
needs of clients, including X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) compatible filters.
